The Bull Dog Amsterdam

Henk founded the Bulldog Amsterdam in Amsterdam, Netherlands, as a coffee shop in 1975. He coined the phrase coffee shop to capture the warmth of a tea house and a living room atmosphere. The naming of his coffee shop was inspired by his best friend, Joris, an English Bulldog.

Bulldog's rich history in cannabis production began with a visit to Woodstock in the Netherlands. Henk seized the opportunity while at the music festival and started selling cannabis. This would be the beginning of his journey in the cannabis selling industry. At its current location in Amsterdam, Henk established a safe place in 1975 where friends, neighbours and tourists could smoke cannabis. Despite facing challenges such as constant police raids and the myths surrounding cannabis, the coffee shop grew, becoming the Bulldog Empire.
